D.i.y Diffuser Bracelets – Using Essential Oils With Semi-precious Stones

Posted by

If you love the beauty of semi-precious bracelets and the calming power of essential oils, then you will adore the combination of both! DIY diffuser bracelets combine the best of both worlds and allow you to enjoy the sparkle of semi-precious stones on your wrist all day while also getting the benefits of natural essential oils. Porous beads will enable the aromatherapy oils to be absorbed, leaving you with beautiful smelling wrists for up to two days before a reapplication is required.

Keep reading to discover how you can create these beautiful bracelets for yourself, family and friends. Before you know it, you’ll be handing them out to everyone at birthday and Christmas parties!

You will need:

• Porous beads (either lava stone, clay, wood or leather)
• Semi-precious stones which reflect the message you want to convey
• Spacer beads (optional)
• Elastic stretch string or cord
• Scissors
• Glue (optional)
• Essential oils
• Tape measure
• Bead stopper or binder

1. Cut the elastic stretch string

First, you will need to measure your wrist, so that you know how long to make the stretch cord. If you are making this bracelet as a gift, then you may have to estimate the recipient’s wrist size measuring your own and then making it slightly smaller or bigger depending upon their bone structure. Cut the elastic string to the desired length and get ready to string your beads!

2. String the bracelet

Stringing your bracelet is the most fun part of this project as it’s where you get to experiment with different semi-precious stones and beads! Choosing which stones and beads you are going to use is often the most exciting part of making a bracelet, and you can personalise the bracelet to reflect the character and personality of the recipient. For instance, you could choose to include stones based on a person’s birth month, e.g. Garnet, for January birthdays.

Make sure to tie down the end of your elastic or use a bead stopper to prevent the beads from flying off as you put them on! Make sure to alternate porous beads with semi-precious stones in order to give maximum aromatherapy benefit when you are finished.

3. Tie it up

Once you are finished stringing beads onto the elastic cord, you can remove the binder clip or the bead stopper and tie the ends together to create a circle. If you want to add any extra embellishments or tassels, then now is the time to do it. Afterwards, you may want to add some glue to the final knot for extra strength, but make sure you let it dry before moving on to the next step.

4. Trim the cord and apply finishing touches

Once the glue has dried, you can trim the cord and apply any necessary finishing touches. For instance, if you have added a tassel, it may need to be brushed out and cut.

5. Add essential oils and enjoy

Add a drop or two to the porous beads (the ones made out of wood, clay, lava stone, etc.) and allow the oil to be absorbed, before wearing the bracelet. The oil will need to re-applied every one or two days depending upon the strength of oil used and how often it is worn.
